Where do you live? Hi Jennifer, Its me, Sue in Shelton CT

What are you working on right now and where are you in the process? I took my cat to the vet on Friday and a story emerged that I hope to read in the Fall. I wrote and wrote and now need to go back and finetune and edit.

What drove you to write this particular project? It occurred to me how similar my cat and I are; two old ladies.

What is your biggest challenge/frustration right now in your creative process? I am struggling going back to Artie's story. Still trying to get there. I'm working on a piece about the worst anxiety attack I had with him and the fallout. It has lots of legs and of course, an elephant.

How can Flight School serve you over the summer of 2023? Inspiration to keep me writing!!

What did you eat for dinner last night. 🤗 Well I attended a wedding for my goddaughter; her second marriage and a happy event. It was outdoors in their yard and we had barbeque. Delicious!!

Where do you live? I live in a middle planetary system within the Vedic cosmology, not too heavenly or hellish, where eternal souls suffer the pangs and enjoy the perks of the cycle of birth and death. However, being eternal while living in a temporary world is like a fish out of water. We gasp and flop around for many lifetimes until we begin to inquire into the nature of existence. Otherwise, I am enjoying the effects of some good karma living in West Linn, Oregon, because it is lovely.

What are you working on right now and where are you in the process? I am working on a memoir of my life from 1969 to 1979. I have a rough manuscript that I'm not at all happy with, and working to improve it. April Streeter is currently helping me with it.

What drove you to write this particular project? Forty-five years of people telling me I must write a book about my experiences is one reason. Retiring, finding myself going nuts after a long busy career as a CPA, and needing something creative to do is another reason.

What is your biggest challenge/frustration right now in your creative process? Busting out of nasty habits, particularly considering readers dumb and needing everything explained clearly. This may come from years of explaining complex tax code in lay terms. Another frustration is discouragement.

How can Flight School serve you over the summer of 2023? Keep challenging us with good, thought-provoking material.

What did you eat for dinner last night. Homemade vegan Thai food

Hi all! I'm Skylark from Colorado.

I'm working on a novel and some sort stories.

The thing I'm struggling with is how long writing a novel takes and how I feel it *should* go faster. I've been writing for close to four years now and I'm only halfway (80k words) through my second draft (and it's still such a mess). Sometimes I wonder if my slow pace is a result of the complexity of my book or the fact that I'm dyslexic or the fact that I'm still trying to figure out how to turn off my inner editor/ learning how to write. *shrug* I know I'm probably not alone in comparing myself to other writers...

So on that note, and w/r/t how FS can help: I'd love to hear about other people's process. Students, long time writers, pros (dead or alive). I'd also be curious to know how your writing practice has evolved over the years, Jennifer. Do you find it easier to just *write* now (as in w/o editing)? Do you every get frustrated by how long projects take? Do some projects move along more quickly than others? Even after thirty years of writing, do you still compare yourself to other pros?

Hope your novel is chugging along!

Hey everybody. I'm Laurel and I live in a small town in southern Alberta Canada.

I'm working on my memoir ... though actually focused right now on packing and prepping for our home to be listed for sale ... after which I will be focused on finding a new home one province over in British Columbia. Hope to be back to writing soon and practicing everything I learned during my 15-week Blackbird Foundations Studio ...

I am reading though - audio books are a great way to do two things at once. I tried hard to read all of I Am I Am I Am but had to give it up before finishing - just not my cup of tea - I got real fatigued with the many 'near death' experiences ... kept thinking of my own lol

I'm now listening to 'Everything All At Once' by Steph Catudal ... about halfway through andj will comment about it later.

What drove me to write this particular project?

Simple need to share my story through dysfunction and trauma to forgiveness and peace.

What is your biggest challenge/frustration right now in your creative process?

No time to write ... is my only challenge right now :)
